First of all, so many hugs to everyone who's followed me recently(and some extra hugs to everyone else)! I really really appreciate it!! ;u; I hope you come up and say hello sometime!

Also, recently I've come across a lot of instances where artists are discouraged, or have no confidence in their art, not because of how they draw, but because of what they draw. "I feel like a crappy artist because I don't draw what I
should be drawing." There's so much pressure (especially on art communities like this) to be a certain kind of artist. What that 'artist' is, I'm not sure, but in most cases you're not doing it right. "You should stop drawing fanart all the time" or "try drawing some humans" or "you draw nothing but ___, everyone does that!" Plus there's the pressure to 'find a style' and 'be consistant', and the million other things that go through someone's head when they're trying to draw. Yes, it's key to step out of your comfort zone to improve. However, I feel the most important thing is to enjoy making your art, whatever it is. Art isn't going to be fun 100% of the time, and not taking certain steps does have consequences, but I think a lot of artists understand that. Art is hard... but you should still
want to do it.
Let me take the moment to clarify that I don't think that this gives anyone the excuse to not take in constructive critique.
I guess I'm trying to make a point about making art for yourself, and making art to please everyone else. It comes from seeing attacks on people's art, and the trouble that I go through personally, struggling to put pen to paper because I'm too busy worrying about "what I want to draw" vs. "what I should be drawing" vs. "what people would like to see". I'm at the point where the first option has become a choice of the second or third, and that's really hard (does anyone else go through that? I can't be the only one...). I don't know how to get out of that.
...But that's something different. All I'm saying is to have confidence in your art, no matter what you're drawing. Look to things that inspire you, and get motivated, yes?

Lastly, check out some peeps:

has made some awesome earrings (that she's selling!).

Once I get my money together I'll have to buy my own pair, but these are just too cute - I had to share.

made a journal about the author of those "How To Draw Cartoon/Manga" books, Christopher Hart.

Surely some of you have at least one stashed away somewhere, I know I do. Long story short, he's a terrible artist that really shouldn't have been published, not to mention he's an egotistical prick who sees himself above critique (although he needs it), and insults or blocks anyone who attempts to give him any. I saw a lot of happenings on tumblr, and I was appalled.
